We have been doing some amazing work here in "the pond"! Students now all have an individual reading goal that they are working on during our reading block. Check in with them to see if they can tell you what it is AND how they can practice it. I've started reading groups based on these goals as well.
In our writing process work, we have just added the editing step. Students will be checking their work for 5 things: spaces, capitals at beginning of sentences, capitals for names or people, places or specific things, punctuation, and spelling. The class as a whole has exploded with their writing ideas, and many different kinds of stories are being written!

You may have heard about our exciting (and sometimes non-working) light experiments. The class has found out first hand that science does not always go the way we plan; which is a great lesson to learn sooner than later. They have discovered though, that light travels in a straight line until it hits an object. Then it does one of four things based on what it strikes. Hopefully they came home and quizzed you on the words "transparent", "opaque", and "translucent". Today we added "reflect" to our light vocabulary.
