A Celebration!
After school on Tuesday, our custodian for the afternoon, Mr. Craig made a point to stop and praise the students in our classroom for how they have been cleaning up! Each day we close up our day listening to "Zip-a-dee-do-dah" as we walk around and straighten the room. The students have truly taken this to heart and are respecting our "pond"! Way to go!

A 'Frog'tastic start!
Well, our first 2 days are complete, but it feels like our class has been together for many more than that. I have already seen the students coming together to help each other through the days. Here's a quick look into our first couple of days:
We've started our math curriculum with a bang by reviewing number lines and brainstorming all of the things that Math can be. (There will not be any HomeLinks for awhile yet.)
As we kick off our reading, we've come up with things that real readers do instead of fake readers. We've discovered 2 of 3 ways to read a book, and also launched how to "Read to Self." Today the students were able to complete this for 2 minutes. While that doesn't seem like much, they are building stamina to be able to sustain their reading for half an hour or more.
Lastly, we've spent quite a bit of time modeling procedures and ways we'd like our classroom to be. Tomorrow we will set up our "rules" and start the discussion of logical consequences.
Stay tuned for more info as it comes!
